Ok here I am presented against a dilemma. Should I report an ugly building when I have great sympathy with the occupants?
As mentioned in our manifest one of the goals of ugliness is open our eyes to the inhabitants of these building, and try to get to know them. This is truly the case, since we do think this building to be delicious, yet we have discovered that it is the head quarters for a humanitarian organization called “Les petits frères des Pauvres” (in English : International Federation of Little Brothers of the Poor). This association is dedicated to helping the lonely and the poor, and we salute them and their work. From what we can understand the building was created by the architect André Sill in 1931, but we do not think that the building was originally intended for the current purpose (Since the association was really created in 1946).
Yet we do still think that the building is ugly. There is a mixture of odd arches (a little bit neo-classic and slightly art deco) and non symmetrical window spaces.
Keep up the good work!
